The power or jurisdiction for a Florida court exists even if the child is not present in the state in circumstances where the child may have been removed from the state in order to avoid a child custody order previously made or to avoid the modification of one.
When deciding on the best interests of the child a Florida court will have regard for the Uniform Child Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act.
